It's presented as a more normal story, so you'd think it would be in the Extra universe if anything, but it's actually supposed to be set in the Alternative universe, during the events of that story. There's also a story called Owarinaki Natsu, Towa Naru Shirabe. And once you get further into the main series, you may come to recognize a few faces from these games. Akane Manimax is actually supposed to be a kind of bridge between these games and Muv-Luv, introducing a few familiar faces. This is a story that takes place after Unlimited (but drawing from information revealed in Alternative), with a new cast.
